Welcome back to another Music Monday. A sporadic feature where I’ve posted an Artist I really like with hopes you might recommend someone you like too. I’m on the fence with this feature, but here goes it, time to share!
This week we’ll stop down south Georgia, in the good ol’ US of A to check out The Indigo Girls. Duo Amy Ray and Emily Saliers have been friends forever and recording their upbeat, folky, Indie music since 1985. I think I first heard them on the The Ellen Degeneres Show (why oh why can’t I get tickets?). Since then I’ve been a big fan, thank’s Ellen!
My personal favorite is ‘Closer to Fine’ They sing about looking for answers in different places, trying to figure out life, but maybe the less you look, the more you find. Maybe sometimes we’re our own enemy, what we fear in life keeps up from really experiencing life:
“Well darkness has a hunger that’s insatiable,
and lightness has a call that’s hard to hear.
I wrap my fear around me like a blanket.
I sailed my ship of safety till I sank it.
I’m crawling on your shores.”
They deliver a poignant message with strong acoustic’s and melodies that could almost be an anthem for my generation. Maybe it just means the answer isn’t ‘out there’, it’s ‘inside’.
Let me know what you think.
Yes. Same generation. Thanks for reminding me of this beautiful song. xoxo

Thanks for checking it out, I know it’s an oldie, but goodie. I just think the message is still relative and probably always will be. I enjoyed your post about the media’s excessive coverage of Colorado. I look forward to catching up on your posts.
