One of my favorite deserts is this recipe I picked up off an episode of Martha Stewart  (pronounced Cla-fu-tay).  I like it because you almost always have the ingredients on hand, it’s quick and it’s made in your blender. Great for apartment dwellers who may not have any big kitchen appliances but have whipped up Margarita’s or Daiquiri’s at one time (you know who you are).  Simply combine all ingredients in the blender, pour over arranged fruit and bake. Easy, breezy.

Here’s the details:

  • Set oven to pre-heat at 350 F
  • spray baking dish with PAM (pie plate or casserole dish)
  • Peel, half, core and thinly slice 3 ripe pears
  • arrange in prepared baking dish

In the blender combine:

  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter (cooled)
  • 3/4 cup milk (I use 2%)
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/3 cup AP Flour

Pour batter over pears. I like to sprinkle with nutmeg and vanilla sugar (optional). Bake in the middle of the oven for 35-40 minutes till golden.  It’s yummy served  warm or chilled.  I like mine warm with a wee bit of whipped creme. Oh la la

    1. & it’s actually not even fattening if you don’t do too much whipped cream. You know what? I got those dishes from a community garage sale for very little because they can’t go in a dishwasher. The pattern’s called ‘Snow White’, isn’t that sweet? Got lucky there because I’ll wash them by hand all day long… I just love them. I guess it was destiny. hehe delectable, no you.

    1. Hey, I can’t agree with you more. As you know, I can’t help buying anything Teal or Aqua…I joked with Alys at Gardening Nirvana dot wordpress, that if they made an Aqua Vacuum cleaner I’d get more housework done, wouldn’t you know it…she found one on line at Walmart…so I had to eat crow. Don’t have that one in the recipe box..LOL Thanks again for stopping by, I always love reading your posts.

  1. Reminds me of a time years ago when I took a basic French class. Near the end of the course we all had to make a dish from a recipe written in French and bring it to class. The teacher had recipes for us to choose from. My choice was an Apple Clafouti (claufouti aux pommess). I was actually surprised with myself. It turned out good and was both pretty and delicious.

    1. That’s fantastic both that you took a french class and tried a new recipe. I’m going to use apple next time, oh la la that’d be delish! It does look pretty on a plate, no one can even guess how easy it really is. Have an awesome weekend, no doubt filled with something fun.
