Have you noticed that I love to include a lot of photo’s in my posts? While I generally store most of these photo’s on my Mac. I also have this ‘Big Box Of Photo’s’. Truth, I have more than one. Just between you and me, you have them at your house too right?
Some I’ve printed with plans of amazing scrapbook pages that never transpired others were taken before there were digital cameras. I’ve opened the ‘Big Box Of Photo’s’ many times with intentions of getting them organized. (Note to self: surfing Pinterest for organizing ideas is NOT the same as organizing). I can spend a couple of hours looking at them, laughing, crying, reminiscing and never getting to the main event, organizing them. These are the ones I actually got organized, but have never filled in dates or places.
At this point, I might just have to make up stuff. Some I actually do know because the day is etched in my heart forever. Can you tell where we were in this next photo? Hint, we made a wish.
Truly, a good photograph can tell an entire story without typing a single word. However, none of these fall in that distinguish category. I don’t even know why I keep some of them. I mean really…..why? This one was in Maui. Totally obvious right?
You can’t tell, but this next one is in Valemount, British Columbia.
I have all kinds of beautiful pictures from our trips there, but this one just made me laugh again so it goes in the ‘save’ pile. Now here’s one of those “what was I thinking” shots. Honestly, I was thinking it was THE cleanest outhouse I’d ever been in and I liked the aqua glow. Yep, better take a picture.
I had to look twice at this one. For obvious reasons it didn’t make it in the scrapbook.
- We look like weirdo tourists.
- Can you say close up?
- The windswept look wasn’t working for me, LOL
Can you guess where it was taken? Hint: we’re on a ferry.
Oh, ya and headless friends…..classic.
Well, it’s been fun, but I think I’ll just tuck these back into the ‘Big Box Of Photo’s’ and make my way into the craft room. It might be a rainy day project. What do they say about procrastination?
Love ur pictures – we all have those kind of photos but hate to destroy in case some day u may need it. – LUL

Hi Aunty, I guess they did come in handy for this one post, ha! Did you recognize the headless friend? Hint, she is cute, loveable and her name starts with ‘L’. You probably have loads of those peel and stick albums too. I’ve tried to take a few photo’s out of mine to scan and some are too stuck. By the time I finish organizing, there’ll be some ‘new spacey’ way to organize them and we’ll be living on Mars. LOL. xoK LU2.

Sigh- I have that box. Now I’m debating whether or not to scan in some of those really great photos for my online book I’m making – which will delay the entire project for who knows how long… there’s always this push and pull between doing it “right” and actually getting it done!

True that! I really need more room to do this project justice. Working on the floor with kitties marching thru is not the optimum. I have a scanner too and have started that at times. I think it’s just overwelming me. Your project sounds interesting, good luck. I’m sure what ever you do will be highly appreciated.

The pictures are hilarious! I also have lots of really bad pictures, including ones with a corner of the picture missing due to a finger partially covering the lens.

Oh ya, the old ‘finger on the lens trick’ LOL….that’s right up there with a picture of the camera strap. Those were a bummer back in the ‘pick em up at the drugstore’ days. How much money was wasted back then? Thanks for your message Sheryl.

I am laughing so hard at that last photo. Headless friends. LOL LOL LOL
You are a funny, brave, kind and good-spirited soul. Great post.
Thanks also for the ping back. I occasionally offer photo sorting workshops locally. Everyone has the same problem staying on task for such a big project. You’re not alone.

Hehe, I’m glad I made you laugh. That one of Jim and Roy looking in the window cracks me up. When I took it and showed it to Karen, she laughed sooooooo hard. But she was laughing because she had just taken the same photo of ME and Roy looking in the same window….only MY butt’s sticking way out in HER photo…HA, what goes around comes around.. we all had a laugh!
Thank you for your lovely message (( Alys ))….hugs!

LOL! Yes, it’s much funnier when it’s someone else’s behind in the photo!

Oh god, just when I’d convinced myself that I got something done you point out the big pile of scrapbooking materials and photos of my fifteen-year-old learning to walk that sit on my sewing table!!!

LOL, I think you can be forgiven, your gorgeous rebuilt home surely took up a lot of time. Meanwhile, I have really very little to use as an excuse. Valerie at Nikitaland had a good idea with an ‘external drive’ just for photo’s. I may take that route. I think you still have time, your son hasn’t moved out yet 😉

Ha. I feel way better. I keep hoping.

We all have tons and tons of old photographs laying around and I have rubbermaid containers filled with them too, but ever since I got a digital camera, I just organize my large external drive (just for photographs) into yearly folders, and then inside each year I make monthly folders. When I take my photographs, I just insert them into the correct folder and can find them easier. I always find myself scrolling through these folders to look at older photographs. I have found this works out best for me.

An external drive is totally something I’ve thought about. I just finally managed to get a back up for mine. I have to look into that. Thanks Valerie, that’s great info. I bought a scanner a while ago. I need to scan all these old photos and get them in a digital file too. I bet this could be a full time job or business…mmm thinking now. 🙂

Glad I got ya thinking! Scanning all of your old photographs could be a real chore for sure. Question is…do you really need to scan them all? You need to ask yourself why you need to scan them? Scanning all of them would take you forever! Perhaps a local store would do them for you (for a huge price I bet)? Also, I’ve got a great story about “Procrastination Stickies” if you are interested in hearing about it! 🙂

Ah! Another great start to my day with a good chuckle. LOVED the outhouse:) I have a book on Procrastination. I haven’t read it yet and not sure where I put it. You crack me up. 🙂 The last post had me going through the only small boxes of pictures not in storage. I’ve been scanning in the good oldies for family CD gifts. I’m easily distracted.

I’m glad you laughed, thanks Marlene. One of those guys looking in the window is Mr B they other one is my good friend and old neighbour…..OMG, I laughed at the fact that they look like a couple of old dudes. That sounds like a nice gift you’re putting together. Are you going to post some of the oldies & goodies?

LOL, I had a feeling this was not a unique situation. It’s like recipe books. I’ve gotten them all out to do something, read a bunch of recipes, ear marked pages and then made the same ol’ thing. 🙂 Thanks for confirming I’m normal.
