Do you know anyone with a Christmas birthday? It could be a bit of a bummer. Everything is hectic and everyone is tapped out in the gifting department. My sweet sister-in-law Adele is a Christmas baby, Happy 29th darling!!! 😉 Adele’s a florist, you might have read my interview here at Boomdeeadda in July. Just look what she made this week….beautiful! They’re from a very special friend 😉

I knew a girly gift was in order, because the Christmas season is truly a challenge for gals in her biz. I thought I’d share this idea with you on personalizing a gift. You don’t always have to start from scratch.
I started with these:

And gifted this:

I chose a vintage french perfume label out of a
collection I just bought at an antique shop in
San Diego.

I scanned one I loved, added a personal message
and printed it on a 4 x 6 piece of cardstock.

Using a hole punch, I adapted the pretty card for Adele’s earrings,
Ta Da

I cropped the same image to make a personalized tag for a pretty sweater. I printed it off on sticky backed canvas made especially for your ink jet printer. This was the first time I’ve used this product. It’s awesome, I have so many more ideas.

Once trimmed and top stitched, I sewed it on to the neckline
where I took off the regular scratchy tag.

I love these vintage labels. You can pick up a lot of them off the net for projects just like this.

Happy Birthday Adele!
We Love You xox!

I’m so glad you think so, thank you again. It’s nice to personalize things I think. I’ve always wanted a sewing machine that would monogram or embroider, but this is a quick option. I got a bunch or labels in San Diego on our trip that are perfect for it.

Thank you Alys, The ink took perfectly to it and it was ‘extremely’ sticky on the back…great contact. I actually folded it onto itself and then sewed to make the label finished front and back. I got it at my scrapbook store. Can’t wait to see what I do next…ha…it’s percolating in my mind..LOL

Happy birthday, Adele. You have great talents (and work in one of my favorite professions). My dad owned a flower shop in Seaforth, Canada back in the 1950s.
You and the talented Boomdee are so lucky to have each other.

Have you ever given any thought to teaching art? Your mind is so creative that you could inspire a whole new generation of budding artist that could be dying in the hands of the typical color in the lines instructors. You made a simple gift, extraordinary , raising the bar by 10 meters for the rest of us. 🙂 Today is a great day. I’ve learned something new once again. Woo Hoo!
