So glad that Laurie sent you my way, Boomdeeadda! Been having fun reading about Alyster this morning, too. When I was teaching I had “Mr. Banana”, a stuffed Gibbon ape, that went on all my adventures. He kept his stories in a journal, but the really fun reading was all the entries the children wrote when he went visiting with them overnight. (1st and 2nd graders)
Your rhyming is delightful and I know that my students would have loved hearing about Alyster and all his friends. 🙂
Hi Lynda, thank you for coming to meet us and your fab message, Alyster is named after my friend Alys in San Jose. She introduced me to Fairy Gardening and it’s been a lot of fun finding little garden friends at antique malls to join us along the way.
Mr Banana’s journal would make for a great adventure, have you posted it at your blog? I imagine 1st and 2nd graders thought that was a riot to have Mr Banana on a sleep over. What a fun idea.
Are you retired from teaching now? Oh, BTW please ignore any poor punctation and/or spelling errors within, LOL. sometimes I really should be scolded.
I have not, though I was thinking about it pretty hard this morning as I read about Alyster.
As for your writing, well, I couldn’t and wouldn’t scold you! Why? Well, the old saw, “If you don’t use it you’ll lose it.” is appropriate here…
Which is why I love to challenge myself through my writing. It is painful, really. I look up quite a bit trying to make sure it is letter perfect. Then, when I think it is, I publish. You have no idea how much I miss, and then catch, AFTER I hit that post button.
Ah, well. Even retired school marms are not perfect. Hence, we cannot correct your blunders if we are too busy fixing our own! 😉
❤ It really seems like decades ago to me, yet it wasn't even 1 year ago 😀 I just added monthly US calling today 😀 so we can have a big ol' chat whenever we have time. Of course, I almost always have the time, but you can message me when you do to xoxox
You’re so sweet Julia, Alyster’s jaunty pose does seems appropriate in so many situations, LOL I think the Flight Attendant might have wondered what we were up too. Thanks for all the cheer! We are so looking forward to the main event! San Jose or bust…HA xoK
That Romeo cracks me up with that foot in the air thing he has going in every situation. Tell him that Alys’ home is sure to be about the only place as charming as Boomdeeville!
Hey Boomie! This post was awesome, LOVED it! I especially loved the photograph of the gnome on the planes wing! That was hilarious! I almost spit my morning coffee across the room when I saw that! LOL Have a wonderful trip and say hi to Alys for ME!
Thanks Val, he’s a much better flyer than I, HA I usually NEVER look out the window. But Alyster seemed right at home 😉 We’ve been on a wine tour yesterday so laying low today. It’s suppose to be 92F wowie-KAZOWeeee. xoK
I absolutely will be snuggling up poor Beijing if she’s ready for it. It’s misery when a pet is ill. Thank’s so much for your cheer, we’re almost there and I’m floating on air. 😀
Oh such fun you’re going to have…….and this poem is fabulous along with the little traveler you brought with you (no – not your hubby!)……I hope you all have a really memorable time in sunny California!!
Thanks for that Pam, every so nice of you to follow along my BIG adventure. The hubby was amused that I invited Alyster along and let him look out the window. He does indulge us so…..giggle. xoK Snuggles to Sammy.
